IMPORTANT DETAILS:

ACTO Level 2 membership is open only to qualified therapists.

Students still undertaking a formal training course cannot take the Assessment Module.

This is because ACTO Level 2 Professional membership requires that therapists hold a formal counselling or psychotherapy qualification.

Students can take the assessment after they graduate.

There is a cost of £115 to take the Assessment Module.

This cost is to cover the assignment marking needed to meet ACTO specifications and the additional tutor-led support.

  • Each candidate will receive additional pre-recorded TUTOR-LED SESSIONS to help prepare the portfolio for submission.
  • Each candidate will RECEIVE AN IN-DEPTH BRIEFING and be guided to produce an assignment, a case study linked to skills work, and a self-reflective piece of work.

Assessment Process

This assessment is a pass/referred process.

If work is referred for a first time, the student will receive comments and feedback and MAY RE-SUBMIT the referred work AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.

If a student is referred twice or more, then a small re-submission fee of £25 will apply to each additional portfolio submission.

The Process

  • Each submitted portfolio will be marked by one of our appointed assessors and comments will be given to the student.
  • Our head assessor will cross-mark a sample of assignments to check the overall quality.
  • Finally, a selection of assignments will be sent to ACTO assessors, who perform the final quality check.

The Details

The final portfolio must be a maximum of 3,000 words and is made up of the following:

Q & A

Question – Where can I access the pre-recorded tutor-led sessions?

Answer – The pre-recorded sessions can be accessed directly in your course dashboard.

Question – How often will the Assessment Module run?

Answer – The Assessment Module is open any time for people who have successfully completed the Online and Telephone Counselling Certificate Course offered by Counselling Tutor.

Question – I did a different course; can I do this assessment?

Answer – No, the assessment is open only to those who took the Counselling Tutor course. The reason for this is as follows.

The assessment first evidences the 80 hours already undertaken and recognises that the student will have taken part in a minimum of four tutor-guided sessions as well as participated in extensive peer work.

The Assessment Module starts with this foundation already evidenced and then layers in the additional tutor-led support, reviewed skills practice, assignment, case study, and reflective piece taken from the journal that started during the 80-hour Certificate Course.

Question – How long will this assessment take/how long do I need to set aside?

Answer – This depends on the individual student. However, the time estimated is one month because the four assignment briefing webinars run one week apart, over a one-month period.

Each student will be undertaking three simulated skills sessions that will be recorded and evaluated, and will submit a 3,000 word-final portfolio.
